I enjoy NPR News that gives a 5 minute recap twice a day on the news. Easy way to keep in touch with the world. Freakonomics Radio is also fantastic with surprising economic stories.

I'm currently working my way through 99% Invisible. I highly recommend it! The newer episodes are about 20 minutes and each one is focused on some design element that goes unnoticed in everyday life. It's completely fascinating!

Good picks! I rarely miss an episode of WNYC's On the Media and also highly recommend Sound Opinions, for Siskel & Ebert style music commentary, reviews and interviews. I also like TWiT's Tech News Today for daily tech news.

Thanks for posting this. I've had a hard time but I can feel there is so much love and positiveness in my heart again that I know things will improve for me. Basically, I changed my attitude and I think I'm happier than ever before, although my life is not what I want yet. Nothing wrong with being ambitious, but I realised how selfish I was being and ungrateful. I was depressed and didn't know it. I am being treated now, feel much better, started with voluntary work and I know I will earn some money soon. Thanks to all who are supporting me right now.

Thanks for this! We named our daughter Sloane in 2010 and it is perfect! We always thought it had such sophistication to it. But I still get people that tilt their heads when I tell them her name... like they've heard it but have no clue where. I am thinking, "Seriously? You don't know that movie?" And then I get people that pronounce her name "Suh-loane" like you would say "I am driving suh-lowly..." Has anyone ever pronounced your name that way? Weird.

This is wonderful! I spent a few months in Panajachel, Solola, which I think is where you're going. You should definitely travel for a few days. Marvellous stuff! Quite 'coincidentally' I REALLY wanted some chocolate this morning and literally just before I found this site- some arrived as a free gift with some printer ink! I sympathize with you, Anonymous. CT is a big state with all income levels. Do you watch Colbert? The comment was based on his particular brand of humor. A particular Daily Show sketch last week also comes to mind. My comment also had a historical tie-in which I won't go into.

Have fun in Guatemala! I went last year with my mom and grandma as part of a service trip as my mom has been there 3-4 times now with the Amistad Foundation. We also did a social fundraising campaign (#loveroofs) to raise money for new roofs to a village after a heavy hurricane. It was an amazing experience--especially to go with ones you love and share in that experience together.
